New Special Events for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Gimmighoul Tera Raid and Mass Outbreaks
The Pokémon Company has launched exciting new events for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, giving players another chance to catch rare and shiny Pokémon!
Gimmighoul Tera Raid Event Rerun
From now until August 23rd, players can participate in a rerun of the Gimmighoul Tera Raid event. This special event offers the opportunity to encounter and capture a Shiny Chest-Form Gimmighoul, the only legitimate way to obtain this shiny variant in the game. The Gimmighoul you’ll face in the Tera Raid will have the Ghost Tera-Type, making it a challenging opponent to take down.
Recommended Pokémon to Use
To successfully capture this rare Gimmighoul, consider using the following Pokémon:
- Chien-Pao: With its strong Dark-type moves, Chien-Pao is highly effective against Ghost-type Pokémon like Gimmighoul.
- Grimmsnarl: Grimmsnarl’s Dark/Fairy typing gives it a solid defense against Ghost-type attacks, and its access to moves like Spirit Break can lower Gimmighoul’s Special Attack.
- Hydreigon: This Dragon/Dark-type Pokémon can hit hard with moves like Dark Pulse and withstand Ghost-type moves.
- Mimikyu: Mimikyu’s Disguise ability allows it to take a free hit, and its Ghost/Fairy typing makes it an excellent choice for this raid.
Mass Outbreak Events with Shiny Chances
In addition to the Tera Raid, there will be Mass Outbreak Events featuring various Pokémon with higher chances of being Shiny and a chance to have the Pumped Up Mark. Here’s where you can find them:
- Wattrel in Paldea: This Electric/Flying-type Pokémon can be found in coastal and lakeside areas of Paldea.
- Riolu in Kitakami: Look for this Fighting-type Pokémon in the mountainous and forested regions of Kitakami.
- Comfey in Blueberry Academy: This Fairy-type Pokémon can be encountered in the gardens and fields of the Blueberry Academy.
Recommended Pokémon to Use
- Wattrel: Use Rock or Electric-type Pokémon like Jolteon or Tyranitar to quickly defeat Wattrel.
- Riolu: Bring Fairy or Flying-type Pokémon like Togekiss or Corviknight for an advantage.
- Comfey: Steel or Poison-type Pokémon like Gholdengo or Toxapex are great choices to counter Comfey’s Fairy typing.
