There are 107 new Pokemon in Generation 4 (without counting multiple forms). In October 9, 2018, the official Pokemon Go Twitter account posted a Tweet with a video teasing Generation 4 Pokemon. No date was given and a few more Tweets with information about the Sinnoh region starters were posted every few days.
On October 26, 2018 we were surprised by a sudden release of new Pokemon without warning.
