Pokemon Company Settled Chinese Lawsuit

The Pokémon Company Settles Chinese Copyright Infringement Lawsuit

The Pokémon Company has successfully settled another legal dispute in its ongoing fight against unauthorized Pokémon-related content.

As reported by Automaton-Media, the company has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against the creators of Pocket Monster: Remake—previously referred to as Pocket Monster Reissue. This mobile game blatantly used Pokémon designs and characters without any official licensing or approval from The Pokémon Company.

A Major Victory in the Battle Against Knock-Off Pokémon Games

The case, which has been in legal proceedings for some time, saw several Chinese companies attempt to appeal previous rulings. However, as of February 19, 2025, the dispute has officially been settled. The Pokémon Company remains victorious, with a “huge sum” awarded in the settlement.

Additionally, the involved companies have been ordered to issue formal apologies—both in Chinese newspapers and online media outlets—acknowledging their infringement.

A Pattern of Legal Action Against Unauthorized Pokémon Games

This lawsuit is one of many that The Pokémon Company has pursued against unlicensed Pokémon-related products in China and other regions. Unauthorized mobile games and merchandise frequently emerge, often capitalizing on Pokémon’s massive global popularity. The company has maintained a firm stance on protecting its intellectual property and ensuring only official Pokémon content is available to fans.

While details of the exact settlement amount remain undisclosed, this case serves as another strong warning to developers attempting to profit off unauthorized Pokémon content.
