Team Rocket are at it again, using Shadow Pokemon.

Team Rocket known as Team Go Rocket in Pokemon Go are invading PokeStops. Challenge the Rocket Grunts to battle and you will see they are now using Shadow Pokemon. You can tell by the appearance and purple mist around the Pokemon.

Shadow Pokemon sound familiar right? Team rocket did the same deal back on the Nintendo Gamecube game in 2004/2005, ‘Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD’. These two RPG games focused on saving all Shadow Pokemon being used against their will by Team Rocket and purifying them to their original self.

How do we catch them?

It is actually pretty much the same as the GC games. Once you battle the Grunt and win they will flee leaving the Shadow Pokemon Behind. Now you will need special Pokeballs to catch them, 5 premier balls will be given at the start, to locate more it will depend on your Team Go Rocket battles. The number of Premier Balls received is based on how many of your Pokémon survive the battle, your Purify Pokemon Medal rank, and your Defeat Team Rocket Medal rank.

How do we purify them?

Now to purify Shadow Pokemon in Go is completely different to the RPG version. A Shadow Pokemon can be purified for 2000 Stardust and 2 Candy. Purifying a Shadow Pokemon will increase the Pokemons IV Values, increase the Pokemon’s level to 25 and also remove the Shadow move ‘Frustration’ with a normal type move ‘Return’.
