Google Adds Pokédex Minigame to Mobile Browsing

The Pokémon Company has partnered with Google for a surprise collaboration that’s sure to delight nostalgic fans and mobile users alike!

Starting today, users can search for any of the original 151 Kanto Pokémon using the Google mobile app or a mobile browser, and “catch” them right from the search results.

How It Works

When you search for a Kanto Pokémon—like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, or Gengar—a small Poké Ball icon will appear in the bottom right corner of the Pokémon’s info card. Tapping it lets you “catch” the Pokémon, which will then be added to your very own Google Pokédex, saved to your Google Account.

It’s a simple, fun minigame that encourages fans to search, explore, and collect, just like in the classic games.
