Pokémon Happy Meal Promotion Coming to McDonald’s Japan This August

McDonald’s Japan has announced its latest Pokémon-themed Happy Meal promotion, set to begin in August 2025.

The collaboration will be split into two waves of collectible toys. From August 8 to August 14, diners can receive one of four Pokémon figures: Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, or Mega Lucario. The second wave will run from August 15 to August 21, offering Eevee, Bulbasaur, and Mega Charizard.

Initially, special Pokémon promo cards with the McDonald’s logo were scheduled to be distributed during the first three days of the campaign, but many locations have already ended card distribution early due to high demand. McDonald’s has issued an apology for not meeting customer expectations.

From August 9 to August 11, purchases of Pokémon Happy Meals will be limited to a maximum of five per customer. McDonald’s is also asking customers to avoid bulk buying for resale, to only order what they can eat, and to refrain from contacting stores regarding inventory.

The promotion will be available exclusively at McDonald’s locations across Japan for a limited time.
