The mobile card battler outpaces Pokémon GO’s historic launch year
One year after its global release, Pokémon TCG Pocket has proven to be another massive success story for The Pokémon Company.
According to AppMagic data, the mobile adaptation of the Pokémon Trading Card Game has reportedly generated over $1.3 billion USD in revenue during its first year. If accurate, this means Pokémon TCG Pocket has outperformed even the record-breaking first-year revenue of Pokémon GO, which brought in around $1 billion in its debut year.
The Pokémon Company also celebrated the milestone with a special first anniversary trailer, highlighting the game’s thriving player base and impressive engagement metrics. Over the past year, players have collectively participated in more than 2 billion in-game TCG battles, and shared over 490 million showcase card galleries through the app’s social features.
This incredible growth underscores the enduring popularity of the Pokémon TCG brand and its successful transition into the digital space.
