Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions: The Pokémon Company Addresses Supply Shortages

The Pokémon Company has issued a statement regarding the widespread availability issues surrounding the recently launched Pokémon TCG: Prismatic Evolutions expansion. In their message, they acknowledge the challenges fans face in purchasing these products due to “high demand” and extend their apologies for the inconvenience caused. They have assured the community that they are working to address the shortage by increasing production at “maximum capacity” and aim to deliver more products to retailers “as soon as possible.”

Scalping Continues to Plague the Pokémon TCG Market

This statement comes amidst ongoing frustrations in the Pokémon TCG community over scalping. The game’s surging popularity has resulted in some individuals buying up large quantities of cards and products to resell at exorbitant prices, leaving regular collectors and players struggling to access their favorite sets. This practice is particularly upsetting for parents of younger fans, casual collectors, and local stores unable to compete with the hoarding practices of resellers.

Fans and retailers alike have voiced mixed feelings about The Pokémon Company’s handling of this issue. One major critique is the inconsistency in product availability. While some expansions and collections, such as those featuring Eevee, seem overproduced and sit unsold on shelves, others like Prismatic Evolutions are almost impossible to find.

My Two Cents

Honestly, I don’t understand why this keeps happening. The market gets flooded with products like certain Pokémon TCG collections, leaving people like me or stores stuck with unsellable stock—sometimes even at prices below cost. Meanwhile, sets with massive fan appeal, like those featuring Eevee (a favorite among kids), are underproduced and nearly impossible to find. It feels like a poor decision on The Pokémon Company’s part. Let’s hope the next reprint addresses these issues and ensures that fans can actually get their hands on these items. In the meantime, avoid paying scalpers outrageous prices—don’t give in to 4x the RRP!
