The next Pokémon Movie English release has been announced!

The 23rd Pokémon movie is finally being released in English. Yayyyyyy! The Pokémon Movie ‘Secrets of the Jungle’ also known as the Pokémon Movie ‘Coco’ in Japan, was released last November in Japan. It has also been released in China and Korea, earlier this year. Usually when Pokémon Movies are released it takes about 6 months for it to be subbed into English and then released in small cinemas around Australia. I’m not to sure what the hold up was, but with Covid and lockdowns going on, everything is delayed these days.

Anywho! Instead of being released in Cinemas, the Secret of the Jungle will be first aired on Netflix around the world besides Japan, China and Korea. The released date is the 8th of October, so make sure to keep an eye out on your newly added section.

If you havent seen the previous information on the movie, I like to think of it as a ‘George of the Jungle’ but in Pokemon. The story line is below:

“Deep within the Forest of Okoya, the Mythical Pokemon Zarude live in a troop and maintain a strict rule that forbids outsiders from entering their territory. Elsewhere in the jungle lives Koko, a human boy raised by a lone Zarude who left the troop. Koko has grown up never doubting that he is a Zarude. But one day, a chance meeting with Ash and Pikachu leaves Koko with his first human friend. Is he truly a Pokemon? Or is he, in fact, a human? When danger threatens the jungle, the bonds between Pokemon and human—and the love between parent and child—will be put to the test.“

Why was the name changed from Coco to Secrets of the Jungle? There was alot of whispers on this one, but the likely cause was that Disney had recently released an animated movie called ‘Coco’ which was based on skeletons. Even though the movies are different, I can see that there would be a trademark/Copyright issue and you don’t want any name confusion.
