Shiny Koraidon and Miraidon Distribution Faces Criticism and Scalping Concerns

Fans Frustrated as Limited Codes and Scalpers Complicate Access to Shiny Legendary Pokémon

The Pokémon Company’s in-person distribution event for Shiny Koraidon and Miraidon has sparked widespread criticism among fans. The event, running from September 26 to October 15, 2025, offers players the chance to obtain these previously Shiny-locked Legendary Pokémon via special code cards available at select retailers. However, numerous issues have arisen, leading to frustration within the community.

Limited Availability and Scalping

Reports from various regions indicate that participating stores have received a limited number of codes, leading to shortages. For instance, Australian fans visiting EB Games were informed that their local stores had only received 10 codes in total for the entire event. This scarcity has resulted in many players missing out on the opportunity to obtain these exclusive Pokémon.

Compounding the issue, some individuals in the US have exploited the situation by purchasing multiple codes and reselling them at inflated prices online. Platforms like eBay have listings offering these codes for $10 to $40 each, despite the codes being intended as free giveaways. This practice has drawn ire from the community, with many expressing concerns over the fairness and accessibility of such events.

Community Outrage and Calls for Change

The distribution’s handling has reignited discussions about the effectiveness of in-person giveaways in the digital age. Critics argue that such events often favor early birds and scalpers, leaving dedicated fans at a disadvantage. Many are advocating for future distributions to be conducted digitally, ensuring equal access for all players regardless of location or timing.

While the Pokémon Company has yet to issue an official response to these concerns, the ongoing issues highlight the need for a reevaluation of distribution methods to better serve the global fanbase.
