Mewtwo Arrives in Pokémon Sleep for a Special Two-Week Research Event
A powerful new Pokémon has finally arrived in Pokémon Sleep, and Trainers are being invited to explore a mysterious new area of Greengrass Isle in search of Mewtwo.
The special “Unexplored Realm Research! Pursue Mewtwo” event runs for two weeks, giving players the opportunity to encounter Mewtwo and discover its rare sleep styles while working together with Pokémon Sleep researchers around the world.
The event runs from September 14 through September 28, 2026, with different bonuses available during each week.
Mewtwo Has Been Discovered on Greengrass Isle
According to Professor Neroli, researchers have discovered that Mewtwo resides in an unexplored realm within Greengrass Isle.
Mewtwo is described as a particularly cautious Pokémon, meaning researchers will need to venture deeper into this mysterious realm to discover its unusual sleep styles.
The event gives players a special opportunity to research Mewtwo, with Mewtwo appearing more frequently during the event.
Mewtwo officially becomes available in Pokémon Sleep from September 14 at 3:00 p.m., appearing at Greengrass Isle, Greengrass Isle (Expert) and Cyan Beach (Expert). Its sleep type is Snoozing.
Collect Mewtwo DNA
During the event, players can collect Mewtwo DNA through their sleep research.
These DNA samples can then be exchanged through the Event Exchange for useful items, including:
- Mewtwo Incense
- Mewtwo Biscuits
- Main Skill Seeds
- Other event rewards
Mewtwo Incense is particularly useful because it can help players encounter Mewtwo and research its different sleep styles.
The Event Exchange remains available until October 1, 2026, giving players some additional time to use their collected DNA.
Very Big Mago Berries Are Appearing
There’s also a new type of berry to discover during the event.
Very Big Mago Berries can appear as researchers explore deeper into the mysterious realm. These special berries provide considerably more Strength than regular Mago Berries.
Helper Pokémon can also bring them to you.
The Pokémon most likely to provide these special berries are:
- Mew and Mewtwo
- Psychic-type Pokémon
- Other helper Pokémon
These special berries can’t be generated through the Berry Finding S subskill, and they can’t be given to Snorlax while it’s Sneaky Snacking.
Psychic-Type Pokémon Get Some Big Bonuses
If you’ve been building up a Psychic-type team, this is definitely an event to pay attention to.
During the event, Psychic-type helper Pokémon receive several bonuses.
They’ll have a chance to bring one additional ingredient whenever they normally bring ingredients, while their main skills will also receive special boosts during the two weeks.
Pokémon Sleep has specifically recommended Psychic-type Pokémon including:
- Mr. Mime
- Mew
- Natu
- Xatu
- Espeon
- Wobbuffet
- Ralts
- Kirlia
- Gardevoir
- Wynaut
- Mime Jr.
- Cresselia
- Munna
- Musharna
Different Bonuses Each Week
The two weeks of the event aren’t exactly the same.
Week 1
September 14–21
During the first week:
- Helper Pokémon carry limits increase by 8
- Psychic-type helper Pokémon have their Main Skill levels boosted by 2 when they trigger
- Event Rank can progress up to Rank 8
Week 2
September 21–28
The second week brings even bigger bonuses:
- If Mewtwo is on your team while you sleep, Drowsy Power is multiplied by 1.3
- Helper Pokémon carry limits increase by 15
- Psychic-type helper Pokémon have their Main Skill levels boosted by 5 when they trigger
- A big Snorlax will appear and can be raised once it reaches the required Strength
Mewtwo Has a New Main Skill
Mewtwo also brings a new Main Skill to Pokémon Sleep.
Its skill is called Psystrike (Berry Zone).
When activated, Psystrike gives Snorlax Strength and creates a Berry Zone at the current site. While the Berry Zone is active, the Strength gained from Psychic-type Mago Berries is increased.
The effect can also stack each time the skill activates, up to its maximum effectiveness.
Mewtwo is classified as a Special Pokémon, meaning players can only have one Special Pokémon on their team at a time, although it is possible to befriend more than one Special Pokémon.
