Two Oshawott Parks to Open in Japan’s Mie Prefecture in July 2025
The Pokémon Company has officially announced the creation of two Oshawott-themed parks in Japan’s Mie Prefecture, as part of its Pokémon Local Acts initiative. These parks, called “Oshawott Park” (Mijumaru Park in Japan), will be located in Suzuka City and Toba City, featuring playground equipment, decorations, and statues of the beloved Water-type Pokémon.

Bringing the Concept Art to Life
If history has taught us anything, it’s that Pokémon projects in Japan faithfully recreate their concept designs—just like the Chansey Park in Fukushima, which brought a simple drawing into reality. Based on the released concept art, fans can expect an immersive experience with play structures, interactive elements, and plenty of Oshawott charm when the parks open in July 2025.
Part of a Larger Initiative
These parks are being developed as part of a comprehensive partnership between Mie Prefecture and The Pokémon Company, which was signed on December 21, 2021. The goal is to revitalize the region and attract visitors through Pokémon-themed attractions. Oshawott (Mijumaru in Japanese) was chosen as Mie Prefecture’s official Support Pokémon due to the “Mi” in Mie resembling “Mijuu”, and the region’s rich seafood culture, which ties in with Oshawott’s scallop shell motif.
Where to Find the Oshawott Parks
The two Oshawott Parks will be built at the following locations:
📍 Daisei Forest Park (Suzuka Youth Forest) – Suzuka City
📍 Toba Port Sadahama Shinko Green Space – Toba City
Both parks are prefectural facilities, and will feature six unique playground structures, all designed around Oshawott.
Additional Pokémon-Themed Donations
Alongside the parks, seven new Pokémon-themed manhole covers (Poké Lids) featuring Oshawott and other Pokémon will be installed across seven cities and towns in Mie Prefecture. These colorful and unique designs will be part of a larger nationwide initiative, bringing the total number of installed Poké Lids in Japan to 385.
The donation ceremony for both the Oshawott Parks and Poké Lids is scheduled for March 10, 2025, at the Mie Prefectural Office, with appearances from:
✔ Mie Prefecture Governor, Mr. Katsuyuki Mikami
✔ Chief Business Officer of The Pokémon Company, Mr. Kenjiro Ito
✔ Mijumaru (Oshawott) as the honorary Pokémon representative

Pokémon Local Acts & My First Pokémon Project
These Oshawott parks are part of The Pokémon Company’s “My First Pokémon Project”, an initiative aimed at creating memorable childhood experiences with Pokémon. Japan has already seen several Pokémon-themed playgrounds, such as Chansey Park in Fukushima and Lapras Park in Miyagi, Tottori Prefecture’s Sandshrew Playground Park, Iwate Prefecture’Geodude Playground Park , Kagawa Prefecture Slowpoke Playground and now Mie Prefecture will have its own Oshawott-themed attraction.
With the parks set to open in July 2025, fans of Oshawott (and Pokémon in general) can look forward to an exciting new destination in Mie Prefecture. Stay tuned for more updates and official images as the opening date approaches!
