Pokémon Champions Regulation Set M-C Brings More Mega Evolutions
Pokémon Champions is about to get a major update, with Regulation Set M-C bringing a new group of Pokémon and powerful Mega Evolutions to Ranked Battles.
The new regulation was announced following the 2026 Pokémon World Championships and will run from September 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. PDT through December 1 at 5:59 p.m. PST. Due to the time difference, Australian players will see the update arrive on September 9.
And the big headline is simple: Z Mega Evolutions are coming to Pokémon Champions.
Three Z Mega Evolutions Join the Battle
Regulation Set M-C introduces three brand-new Z Mega Evolutions to Pokémon Champions:
- Mega Absol Z
- Mega Garchomp Z
- Mega Lucario Z
These forms were introduced through Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension and will now make their way into the competitive battle environment of Pokémon Champions.
This marks the first time the new Z Mega Evolutions can be used in Pokémon Champions, giving competitive players a whole new set of options to experiment with.
Six New Mega Evolutions In Total
The three Z Mega Evolutions aren’t the only new Mega forms arriving.
Regulation Set M-C adds six Mega Evolutions in total:
- Mega Absol Z
- Mega Garchomp Z
- Mega Lucario Z
- Mega Salamence
- Mega Golisopod
- Mega Baxcalibur
That means players will have plenty of new ways to build their teams once M-C goes live.
And with Mega Evolution already playing a major role in Pokémon Champions, these additions could shake up the competitive meta quite a bit.
24 Pokémon Are Newly Available
Alongside the six Mega Evolutions, 24 Pokémon will become newly available for battle under Regulation Set M-C.
One familiar competitive face joining the roster is Rillaboom, which has previously made a major impact in official VGC competitions.
Baxcalibur will also be joining the available Pokémon, alongside a variety of returning Pokémon and other additions. Pokémon says that Pokémon already eligible under previous regulation sets will remain eligible as well.

How to Check the New Roster
- Go to Recruit.
- Select Recruit Pokémon.
- Select Roster Info.
- Check Pokémon Featured in This Roster.
This will show you which Pokémon are available under the current roster.
Mega Salamence Returns
One of the particularly exciting additions is Mega Salamence.
Salamence has long been a popular competitive Pokémon, and giving it access to Mega Evolution again could make it an interesting option for team builders.
Players will also be able to experiment with Mega Golisopod and Mega Baxcalibur, giving the competitive scene some very different Mega Evolution options.
Mega Heatran Has Also Been Teased
There’s another Mega Evolution that has caught the attention of Pokémon fans.
Mega Heatran was shown during the announcement surrounding the new Champions content.
However, Pokémon has only teased Mega Heatran for now and has not confirmed that it will be part of Regulation Set M-C. The official announcement simply says to stay tuned for more information.
So for now, players will have to wait to find out when Mega Heatran will actually become available.
When Does Regulation M-C Begin?
The official schedule gives Regulation Set M-C a start time of:
September 8, 2026 — 7:00 p.m. PDT
It will remain active until:
December 1, 2026 — 5:59 p.m. PST
Because of the time difference, this means Australian players will see the regulation begin on September 9, with the update scheduled for around 12:00 p.m. AEST.
The regulation will replace Regulation Set M-B for Ranked Battles.
A Big Step for Pokémon Champions
Regulation Set M-C is another major step for Pokémon Champions as the game continues to establish itself as the home of competitive Pokémon battles.
The introduction of the Z Mega Evolutions is particularly interesting because these forms were created for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which uses a very different battle system from traditional competitive Pokémon.
Champions allows those Pokémon to be brought into the familiar turn-based competitive format, giving players the opportunity to see exactly how these new Mega forms perform against other competitive Pokémon.
