Pokémon Fossil Museum Exhibition Coming to Denver in May 2027

The Pokémon Fossil Museum is heading to Denver, Colorado, bringing its unique combination of real-world palaeontology and Pokémon to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Announced on October 6, 2026, the exhibition will open to visitors on May 28, 2027, marking its second appearance in North America following its debut at Chicago’s Field Museum.

The exhibition explores the connections between Pokémon and real-world prehistoric life, giving visitors an opportunity to discover how fossils help scientists understand creatures that lived millions of years ago.

Real Fossils Meet Pokémon

The Pokémon Fossil Museum combines real fossils and fossil casts with life-size models of iconic Fossil Pokémon. The exhibition is designed to show how the fictional creatures of the Pokémon world connect with the real science of palaeontology.

Visitors can explore displays featuring prehistoric specimens alongside Pokémon-inspired exhibits, offering a different perspective on the similarities between the two worlds.

Exhibition signage also explains how fossils are discovered and studied, comparing the processes used to investigate prehistoric life in the real world with the discoveries made by Trainers in the Pokémon universe.

The aim is to encourage curiosity about nature and science among visitors of all ages, including Pokémon fans who may be interested in learning more about the creatures that inspired some of the franchise’s designs.

Second North American Stop for the Exhibition

Denver will be the second North American destination for the Pokémon Fossil Museum, following its run at Chicago’s Field Museum.

The Chicago exhibition is scheduled to close on April 11, 2027, giving visitors a final opportunity to experience it there before it moves on. The Denver exhibition will then open on May 28, 2027.

The exhibition offers a distinctive experience for Pokémon fans, combining familiar creatures with real scientific discoveries in a museum setting.
