Sandshrew and Sandslash Coming Soon to Pokémon Sleep
The Pokémon Company has announced that new Pokémon will soon be discoverable in Pokémon Sleep as part of ongoing sleep research updates.
Thanks to continued research, players will soon be able to encounter two Ground-type Pokémon during their sleep sessions:
- Sandshrew
- Sandslash
These Pokémon have been reported appearing near certain in-game fields, and will soon be fully available through normal gameplay.
Release Date and Availability
Sandshrew and Sandslash will begin appearing from:
- April 27th, 2026 at 15:00
From this time, players will also be able to use incense related to these Pokémon to increase their chances of encountering them during sleep research.
Where to Find Them
The new Pokémon will appear across several locations in the game:
- Wakakusa Island
- Taupe Cave
- Amber Valley
- Wakakusa Island EX
These areas will now have a chance to feature Sandshrew and Sandslash as part of their regular Pokémon pools.
Sleep Styles
Both Pokémon will be tied to a specific sleep type:
- Sandshrew – “Sleeping Soundly”
- Sandslash – “Sleeping Soundly”
Players who consistently achieve this sleep style will have a higher chance of encountering them.
More Discoveries on the Way
This update continues to expand the roster of Pokémon available in Pokémon Sleep, with more discoveries expected as research progresses.
With Sandshrew and Sandslash joining the game, players have even more reason to keep tracking their sleep and exploring new areas in search of rare Pokémon encounters.
