Pokémon UNITE Shutting Down March 23rd 2027
After five years, Pokémon UNITE is coming to an end, with The Pokémon Company confirming that the popular multiplayer game will officially shut down on March 23rd 2027.
The announcement marks the end of service for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions, meaning players will no longer be able to fully play the game after the shutdown date.
However, there are still several months left for Trainers to enjoy Pokémon UNITE, with a final special event planned to give players the opportunity to unlock Pokémon and other content before the game closes.
Pokémon UNITE Service Ending in March 2027
Pokémon UNITE launched on Nintendo Switch in July 2021 before expanding to mobile devices. After five years of service, the game will officially end on March 23rd 2027 at 00:00 UTC.
Once the shutdown takes place, players will no longer be able to log in or participate in battles.
The Pokémon Company has thanked players who have supported the game since its launch and confirmed that a special event will take place leading up to the final day.
In-Game Purchases Already Suspended
As part of the shutdown process, Pokémon UNITE has already stopped selling Aeos Gems, its premium in-game currency.
Players can still use any Aeos Gems they currently have until the end of service, but they can no longer purchase additional currency.
New UNITE Club memberships and automatic membership renewals have also been suspended. Existing members can continue using their membership benefits until their current membership period ends.
Final Event Lets Players Unlock Pokémon
Starting November 12th 2026, Pokémon UNITE will receive a special event and update ahead of its shutdown.
The event will allow players to obtain various items, including Unite licenses and Holowear that have previously appeared in the game.
This gives players a final opportunity to collect content before the game becomes unavailable.
The update will also introduce a new library feature, allowing players to preserve and view certain records and in-game content.
Pokémon UNITE Library Feature Explained
Although Pokémon UNITE will no longer be playable after March 23rd 2027, players will still have access to some of their game content through the library feature.
However, players must complete the required library data download before the end of service to use it afterward.
Those who do not complete the download before the shutdown will not be able to access the library feature once the game closes.
The library will allow players to view certain records and in-game content, but it will not allow them to continue playing battles.
The Pokémon Company also warns that library data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices, and support for the feature will no longer be available after service ends.
Final Pokémon UNITE Tournament Still Going Ahead
Despite the shutdown announcement, the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will still take place as previously announced.
Qualifier tournaments are scheduled to begin on December 5th 2026, giving competitive players another opportunity to participate before the game’s service ends.
Pokémon UNITE’s Final Months
Pokémon UNITE will officially shut down on March 23rd 2027, bringing five years of battles on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices to a close.
With the final event beginning November 12th, players will have a chance to unlock previously released Pokémon and Holowear, while also preparing their library data before the shutdown.
For those who have played since launch, this is the final opportunity to enjoy Pokémon UNITE before battles and regular gameplay come to an end.
