Pokémon’s Pokéxciting! Asia Tour Kicks Off in Kuala Lumpur with a Pokémon Center Pop-Up Store
The Pokémon Company’s 30th Anniversary celebrations are heading across Asia, and we’ve now got our first look at what fans can expect!
The newly announced Pokéxciting! campaign will travel across five major cities from late 2026 into early 2027, bringing Pokémon GO events, exclusive merchandise, live entertainment, and unique experiences to Trainers across the region.
Even better, the first stop on the tour—Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—will feature a special Pokémon Center Pop-Up Store, an exclusive Pokéxciting Pikachu, and the possibility of something even bigger for Pokémon fans in Malaysia.
What is Pokéxciting!?
Pokéxciting! is Pokémon’s latest anniversary celebration, created to commemorate the franchise’s 30th Anniversary.
The event series will travel across Asia, with each city hosting Pokémon-themed activities and Pokémon GO events.
The current schedule is:

While each city will have its own celebrations, Kuala Lumpur is getting the biggest reveal so far.
Pokémon Center Pop-Up Coming to Kuala Lumpur
Alongside the event announcement, The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the first Pokémon Center Pop-Up Store for the Pokéxciting! campaign.
The temporary store will open at:
Ombak KLCC
September 12 – December 31, 2026
The store will offer a wide range of official Pokémon merchandise, including:
- Pokémon plushies
- Trading Card Game products
- Video games
- Collectibles
- Exclusive 30th Anniversary merchandise
The pop-up won’t remain the same throughout its run either.
Instead, the store will feature rotating themes, changing over time to spotlight:
- Pikachu
- Fire-type Pokémon
- Grass-type Pokémon
- Water-type Pokémon
This means fans visiting at different times may experience different displays and merchandise selections.
Meet the Turquoise Pokéxciting! Pikachu
Every great Pokémon event needs a mascot, and Kuala Lumpur’s has officially been revealed.
Introducing the:
Turquoise Pokéxciting! Pikachu!
The special Pikachu wears an exclusive turquoise outfit unique to the Kuala Lumpur event.
Even better, Trainers attending the event will be able to encounter this special Pikachu in Pokémon GO during the event period.
The Pokémon Company has suggested that each city on the tour may receive its own exclusive Pokéxciting! Pikachu costume, giving collectors and Pokémon GO players even more to look forward to.
Free Family Entertainment
The Kuala Lumpur event itself will feature plenty of activities for Pokémon fans of all ages.
Visitors can expect:
- Pokémon GO event activities.
- Meet and greets with Pokéxciting! Pikachu.
- Family-friendly daytime entertainment.
- Night stage performances.
- A spectacular Pokémon drone show.
- Exclusive anniversary merchandise.
Best of all, the event itself will have free admission.
Could Malaysia Get Its Own Permanent Pokémon Center?
Perhaps the biggest surprise to come from the event announcement wasn’t the pop-up store itself.
During the press conference, Pokémon Company corporate officer Susumu Fukunaga reportedly suggested that Malaysia could potentially receive its own permanent Pokémon Center if the Kuala Lumpur pop-up performs well.
At the moment, the only permanent Pokémon Center in Southeast Asia is located in Singapore, although a permanent Pokémon Center has also been announced for Bangkok in the future.
A successful Malaysian pop-up could pave the way for another permanent Pokémon shopping destination in the region.
