Amping up the Legendary Beats

So, about a week ago, (and I am very sorry it took this long for me to look at it) We had some more cards revealed for the legendary beast expansion set featuring the new mythical Zarude. The bulk of these cards revealed are an assortment of V and Vmax card with a very healthy smattering of Amazing rares thrown into the mix too.

The cards revealed are:

Celebi: A grass type with 60HP. It comes packed with two moves.

Energy Press. For a grass energy, this attack does 30 damage times the number of energies attached to your opponent’s active Pokémon. It’s second attack, Amazing Bloom, feels much more powerful in that it searches your deck for a card that evolves from each of your Benched Pokémon and subsequently evolves those cards which it can activate for a psychic and lightning energy.

Zacian:  Comes in as a psychic type with 110 hp, it has two moves packed into it. The first being Metal Arms which, for a colourless energy and deals 30 damage and attaches a basic energy from your discard pile to this Pokémon. It is second move in Amazing Sword is much more powerful dealing 150+ damage with that added affect that if your opponent has a Pokémon VMAX in play, this attack does 150 more damage. Which is activated for a grass psychic and metal energy.

Zamazenta: Is revealed to be a fighting type in this set with base 110 hp. It has two abilities as well. The first being Metal Arms. For a colourless energy it deals 30 damage and attaches a basic energy from your discard pile to this Pokémon. It is second attack, Amazing Shield, deals 180 damage. And becomes immune to damage from VMAX Pokémon until the start of the next turn.

It looks like we have a recurring theme with our box legendary Pokémon when it comes to acceleration and anti-VMAX strategies which I feel is nice as it coincides with their in-game lore.

Now, we move into our V and Vmax cards starting out with:

Ampharos V: Which is a lightning type Pokémon with the standard 210 hp. It has two attacks. The first being Dazzle Blast, which, for a lightning and colourless energy deals 50 damage and leaves your opponent’s active Pokémon confused. It is second attack, Damage Spark, for two lightning energy and a colourless deals 120 damage and does 30 damage to each of your opponent’s benched Pokémon that already have damage counters on them.

Alcremie V: Which is a psychic Pokémon that comes in with a less than average 170 HP. It comes with two abilities the first, Scattered Sugar, heals 30 damage from each of your Benched Pokémon for a psychic energy while it’s second attack, Sweet Splash deals 100 damage and if the Defending Pokémon is a Basic Pokémon, it can’t attack during your opponent’s next turn. Which it can use for a psychic and two colourless energy.

Alcremie VMAX: Aside from the normal V card, it also gains access to the Vmax which comes with two attacks. For a colourless energy you can use Decorate. For each of your Benched Pokémon, search your deck for a psychic energy and attach it to each Pokémon. It is second attack for two psychic energy G-MAX Finale deals 60 damage times the amount of energies discarded from your Pokémon.

Coalossal V: Which comes in as a fighting type with 220 HP which is 10 base hp higher than the standard VMAX Pokémon. For two fighting energy and a colourless it is fist attack Searing Flame deals 90 damage and burns the opponents active Pokémon. It is second attack; Boulder Crash deals a straight 180 damage for three fighting energy and a colourless.

Steelix V: Coming in as a metal type with a huge 250 HP. It is first attack for a metal and colourless energy Raging Hammer deals 30 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on this Pokémon. While it is second attack, Iron Tackle, for a metal and 4 colourless energy deals 210 damage does 30 damage to itself. Overall a lot of the elements on this card just make sense and come together to create a solid card.

Togekiss V: A colourless Pokémon with 200 hp. Its first attack for a colourless, White Wind deals 20 damage. However, if your opponent’s Active Pokémon is an Evolved Pokémon, this attack does 70 more damage. Its second attack Speed Wing deals130 damage for three colourless energy.

Togekiss VMAX: Is blessed with a rock solid 310 hp and keeps its colourless typing. For two colourless energy it can use MAX Glide which deals 120 damage and allows you to search your deck for up to 2 cards and put them in your hand. Which is amazing consistency support for decks.
