Pokémon Champions Adds Z Mega Evolutions From September 9
Pokémon Champions is about to get a major shake-up, with some of the powerful new Mega Evolutions from Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension making their way into the battle-focused game.
The Pokémon Company has confirmed that Regulation Set M-C will begin on September 9, 2026, bringing a total of 24 newly available Pokémon into Pokémon Champions, including six new Mega Evolutions.
And yes — this includes the brand-new Z Mega Evolutions.
Z Mega Evolutions Are Coming To Pokémon Champions
Three of the new Mega Evolutions arriving in Regulation M-C are the recently introduced Z Mega Evolutions:
- Mega Lucario Z
- Mega Garchomp Z
- Mega Absol Z
These forms were introduced through Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension and will now be available within the competitive battle environment of Pokémon Champions.
This is particularly exciting for competitive players, as Pokémon Champions is designed specifically around Pokémon battles and is set to become part of the official Pokémon Video Game Championships.
Six New Mega Evolutions In Total
While the Z Mega Evolutions are probably going to get most of the attention, they aren’t the only Mega Evolutions arriving with Regulation M-C.
The update introduces six new Mega Evolutions in total.
Alongside Mega Absol Z, Mega Garchomp Z and Mega Lucario Z, players will also be able to use:
- Mega Salamence
- Mega Golisopod
- Mega Baxcalibur
That means there are plenty of new options for competitive teams once the new regulation goes live.
Rillaboom And Baxcalibur Join The Battle
The update isn’t just about Mega Evolution either.
Pokémon Champions is also adding a number of additional Pokémon to its battle roster, including Rillaboom and Baxcalibur.
Rillaboom is particularly interesting for competitive Pokémon fans, having already made an impact in previous Pokémon Video Game Championship competitions.
The official announcement confirms that 24 Pokémon will become newly available for battle with Regulation M-C.

What About Mega Heatran?
There’s also another Mega Evolution that Pokémon has teased.
Mega Heatran was revealed alongside the other announcements, but Pokémon hasn’t yet provided full details about when or how it will be introduced into Pokémon Champions.
So while we know Mega Heatran is coming, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before Pokémon reveals exactly what is planned for it.

Regulation Set M-C Starts September 9
Regulation Set M-C begins worldwide on September 9, 2026.
For Australian players, the Pokémon Champions website lists the regulation as beginning at 12:00 PM AEST on September 9 based on the announced 02:00 UTC start time.
The regulation will run through December 2, 2026.
Previous Pokémon that were legal in earlier Ranked Battle regulations will continue to be eligible, with the new Pokémon and Mega Evolutions added to the available roster.
Pokémon Champions Is Becoming The Home Of Competitive Battles
Pokémon Champions launched earlier this year as a battle-focused Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
The game supports Ranked, Casual and Private Battles, as well as Pokémon HOME connectivity, allowing players to bring eligible Pokémon from other games into Champions.
It has also been built with competitive Pokémon in mind.
The Pokémon World Championships has already incorporated Pokémon Champions into its Video Game Championship competitions, and the game is expected to become an increasingly important part of competitive Pokémon battling going forward.
