Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Switch Versions Get Pokémon HOME Support in October 2026
A major update is coming to the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, with Pokémon HOME integration officially confirmed for October 2026.
The update will allow players to send Pokémon they have befriended in the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen into Pokémon HOME, where they can then bring compatible Pokémon into other Pokémon series titles and use them in battle.
But there’s another exciting reason to complete your Pokédex.
Players who complete the FireRed and LeafGreen Pokédex in the smartphone version of Pokémon HOME will be able to receive a special Mythical Celebi as a Mystery Gift.
Pokémon HOME Support Arrives in October
The Pokémon Company has now confirmed that Pokémon HOME integration for the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen will become available in October 2026.
An exact release date within October has not yet been announced.
Once the integration goes live, players will be able to send Pokémon they have befriended in the games into Pokémon HOME.
From there, compatible Pokémon can be brought into other supported Pokémon games and used in battles.
This gives the classic Kanto adventures a new connection to the wider modern Pokémon ecosystem.
Complete Your Pokédex for a Special Celebi
The biggest surprise is the special reward being offered through Pokémon HOME.
If you complete the Pokédex for Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen in the smartphone version of Pokémon HOME, you’ll be able to receive a Celebi as a Mystery Gift.
The Celebi will have the original Trainer name:
Mitsurin
This is particularly notable because Celebi cannot be encountered through normal gameplay in Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen.
Instead, this special Celebi provides players with a new way to add the Mythical Pokémon to their collection.
The Requirement Is Through Pokémon HOME
One important detail has been clarified in the latest information.
The requirement is to complete the Pokédex for FireRed and LeafGreen within the smartphone version of Pokémon HOME.
Once that Pokédex has been completed, the special Celebi can be claimed through Mystery Gift.
This means the reward is specifically tied to the Pokémon HOME Pokédex rather than simply completing the in-game Pokédex and waiting for the reward to appear.
