Pokémon HOME Version 4.1.0 Update Now Available, Adds FireRed and LeafGreen Support
Pokémon HOME has received a major update, bringing support for the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, expanding storage for Premium members, and adding another way to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO.
The Pokémon Company has released Pokémon HOME Version 4.1.0, introducing several new features for players who want to move their Pokémon between games and keep their collections together.
The biggest addition is connectivity with the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen. Players can now transfer Pokémon from these classic Kanto adventures into Pokémon HOME, with a special Mythical Pokémon reward also available for completing the games’ Pokédexes.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Can Now Connect to Pokémon HOME
One of the most significant additions in Version 4.1.0 is support for the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen.
Players can transfer Pokémon from either game into Pokémon HOME, allowing them to bring eligible Pokémon from their Kanto adventures into the wider Pokémon ecosystem.
However, transfers are one-way only. Once a Pokémon has been moved into Pokémon HOME, it cannot be sent back to FireRed or LeafGreen.
There are a few other restrictions to keep in mind:
- Pokémon are transferred one box at a time.
- Only one of each species of Special Pokémon can be transferred from a game.
- The game’s Pokédex synchronises each time a Pokémon is transferred out.
This means players should think carefully before moving Pokémon out of their games, particularly if they want to keep certain Pokémon in their original adventure.
Complete the Pokédex to Receive Celebi
There is another incentive for players to complete their Kanto collections.
Players who complete the Pokédex in the Nintendo Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen can receive Celebi as a Mystery Gift in Pokémon HOME.
Celebi is a Mythical Pokémon, making this a particularly appealing reward for collectors who enjoy completing Pokédexes.
With the new HOME connectivity, players have another reason to revisit the classic Kanto games and work towards completing their collections.
