Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Update

What did we learn about Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet in Pokemon Presents 3.8.2022

Last night the Pokemon Company released new details on the new up and coming Pokemon Games. The stream goes for about 20 minutes, if you would like to have a look yourself use the link here and forward to about 8-9 minutes in 🙂

Now lets go through what we learnt about the new games!

There will be three different story lines within the new games. I would probably think of it like Sword and Shield but with the 2x DLCs already installed on the game. So far they confirmed there is the standard Gym leader style story (which is what I wanted the most!) and two others, yet to be known. They did confirm that we can choose which story line we want to do first, so that’s new and intruding. The Gym Leader story is called Champion Rank. I think I prefer the old name.

New Forms for the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon

Now lots of people guessed this when they saw the two Legendaries and how they looked like bikes, well that there right! They didn’t say whether you had to complete all stories or one, but your legendary Pokemon will be the Pokemon that can take you around the land. Both Koraidon and Miraidon can sprint/drive across the field lands, can swim across water carrying you on its back and also fly. They also say they can scale all the nook and crannys of the game. It is defiantly a different idea, but i personally liked the challenge of the old HMs and have each Pokemon for each one throughout your journey. Images are below of each form whether sprinting, swimming or flying.

New Pokemon

Three new Pokemon were revealed on the stream. Meet the newest Pokemon!

  • Category: Terra Whale Pokémon
  • Type: Ice
  • Height: 14’9″
  • Weight: 1,543.2 lbs.
  • Ability: Thick Fat / Slush Rush

Strong Muscles and Thick Blubber

Cetitan need to have tough muscles to be able to support their immense bodies, and physical attacks using their bodies have incredible power. They also migrate around the snowy regions, protected by a thick layer of subcutaneous fat.

The Horn on the Upper Jaw Freezes the Surroundings

A Cetitan has five hard horns. Among them, the horn on the upper jaw is able to gather ice energy, making the surrounding temperature extremely low and freezing the area around the Pokémon.

Paldean Wooper

  • Category: Poison Fish Pokémon
  • Type: Poison/Ground
  • Height: 1’4″
  • Weight: 24.3 lbs.
  • Ability: Poison Point / Water Absorb

They Live on the Land and Cover Their Bodies with a Poisonous Film

In ancient times, Wooper lived underwater in the Paldea region. But it seems after losing in a struggle for territory, they began living in bogs on land.
To keep from drying out while living on land, they began to cover their bodies with a poisonous film.

Powerful Poisonous Liquid Emits from Their Tough Gills

These Wooper’s gills have hardened thanks to living on land for so long. Their bodies are heavy and they move slowly, but they can protect themselves by shooting powerful poisonous liquid from their gills.
You may see poisoned Pokémon in areas where these Wooper live.

  • Category: Puppy Pokémon
  • Type: Fairy
  • Height: 1′
  • Weight: 24 lbs.
  • Ability: Own Tempo

This Pokémon Has a Moist, Smooth Feeling to It

Fidough’s moist, smooth skin has elastic qualities and is both firm and soft at the same time. When these Pokémon become excited, they intimidate their opponents by puffing up their bodies to appear bigger.

Its Breath Contains Useful Yeast

Fidough ferments things in its vicinity using the yeast in its breath. Said yeast is useful for cooking, so this Pokémon has been protected by people since long ago.

Terastal Phenomenon

This is a new feature but still very similar to Gigantamax. The Terastal Phenonmenon is Terastal energy that seeps from the ground of the Paldea region and gives Pokemon additional forms and powers. Terastal Pokemon have the option to go Terastal during battle like Gigantamax, the new form will give the Pokemon a crystal makeover including different crystal crowns. When a Pokemon goes Terastal they can also change Pokemon type. This means if you are fighting a water Pokemon and they go Terastal good chances are your normal super effective types like grass and electric may not be as effective as its now not just a water Pokemon but another type.

How to get Terastal Pokemon? You will need to use a special ball called a Tera Orb which you obtain in the game. This Tera Orb can be used once to catch a Pokemon and will need to be recharged before you can use it again. You can charge your Tera Orb by touch Terastal Crystals or going to the Pokemon Center.

They also confirmed that there will be Terastal cave raids just like in Pokemon Sword and Shield. You and 3 other people can do the Terastal raids together and then catch the Terastal Pokemon.

If you purchase the game when it comes out you will be gifted a special Terastal Pikachu! This is a special Pikachu, as its the only one who has a Tera Type of flying. This means Pikachu can learn fly, which normally we all know it cant. You can claim your gift in game via Mystery Gift up until Feb 28th 2023.
