Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu Coming to Disney+ in 2027
The upcoming Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu has just received a major update, with The Pokémon Company International confirming where fans around the world will be able to watch the new Aardman stop-motion series.
Following its appearance at Pokémon XP on August 28, 2026, it has now been officially announced that Disney+ will be the exclusive worldwide streaming home for the series when it arrives in 2027.
That means we finally have an answer for fans who have been wondering where this rather unusual Pokémon adventure will be available.
Pokémon Tales Is Coming to Disney+
The new series is being created by the legendary British animation studio Aardman, best known for productions including Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run.
Rather than traditional 2D or 3D animation, Pokémon Tales is being produced using stop-motion animation, giving the Pokémon world a completely different look.
The series is being produced by The Pokémon Company International and brought to life by Aardman’s creative team, including:

The team gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the production process during the Pokémon XP panel, including production imagery, puppet demonstrations and details about how the characters and world of Galar are being brought to life.
Sirfetch’d and Pichu Take Centre Stage
The series follows an unlikely pair of heroes: Sirfetch’d and Pichu.
The story takes place in the Galar region, where the two set out on a gallant mission to help and protect Pokémon across the region.
Of course, things don’t always go according to plan.
Sirfetch’d is described by director Tom Parkinson as having a noble but slightly bumbling personality, with dreams of becoming the greatest knight in Galar.
Pichu acts as his playful and curious companion — and often the voice of reason when Sirfetch’d gets himself into trouble.
Their adventures will see them encounter peril, alliances, rivalries and plenty of other Pokémon, while their misadventures gradually build their friendship.
Aardman Is Giving Pokémon a Completely New Look
One of the most exciting things about Pokémon Tales is seeing what happens when the Pokémon world is interpreted through Aardman’s distinctive stop-motion style.
The Pokémon Company says the series will tell its stories from the perspective of Pokémon, rather than focusing on human Trainers.
This gives Aardman plenty of room to explore Galar in a way we haven’t seen before.
The newly released trailer gives us a much better look at the characters, environments and the overall tone of the series, with plenty of comedy mixed in with the adventure.
