Pokémon TCG Pocket Announces Ruler of the Skies Expansion Launching July 29
The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the next major expansion for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, with Ruler of the Skies set to launch worldwide on July 29, 2026.
The new expansion shines the spotlight on one of the franchise’s most iconic Legendary Pokémon—Mega Rayquaza—while introducing a fresh lineup of powerful Mega Evolution cards, new collectibles, and exciting battles for players to enjoy.
Alongside the announcement, The Pokémon Company also released an action-packed official trailer, giving fans their first look at many of the cards arriving in the expansion.
Mega Rayquaza Takes Flight
Leading the expansion is Mega Rayquaza ex, which features on the set’s key artwork and appears to be one of the headline cards of the release.
The trailer showcases Mega Rayquaza soaring through the skies before revealing a number of other Mega Evolution Pokémon joining the expansion.
While The Pokémon Company has yet to reveal the complete card list, the trailer confirms that Mega Evolution continues to be one of the biggest themes in Pokémon TCG Pocket as the game celebrates Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary.

The announcement was accompanied by a brand-new trailer showcasing the expansion’s artwork, animations, and several of the cards arriving on launch day.
The video offers the best look yet at the expansion and hints at some of the strategies players will be able to build around Mega Evolution Pokémon.
Available July 29
Ruler of the Skies will become available for all Pokémon TCG Pocket players on July 29, 2026.
As with previous expansions, players will be able to begin opening booster packs immediately after the update goes live, adding the new cards to their collections and decks.
Mega Evolution Continues to Dominate 2026
It’s no surprise to see Mega Rayquaza taking centre stage.
Throughout 2026, The Pokémon Company has heavily embraced Mega Evolution across multiple parts of the franchise. From Pokémon Legends: Z-A and new Pokémon Center merchandise to trading cards and collectibles, Mega Evolution has become one of the defining themes of Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary celebrations.
With Ruler of the Skies, that trend continues, giving Pokémon TCG Pocket players another exciting expansion filled with legendary Pokémon and powerful new cards.
