Pokémon World Championships 2027 Heading to Singapore
Pokémon fans in Asia have another huge event to look forward to, with Singapore officially announced as the host of the 2027 Pokémon World Championships.
The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco, revealing that the world’s best Pokémon players will travel to Singapore next year for the biggest competitive Pokémon event of the year.
And for fans in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region, this is pretty exciting news.
When Is Pokémon Worlds 2027?
The 2027 Pokémon World Championships will take place from August 13–15, 2027.
The event will be held at:
Singapore EXPO
Tampines, Singapore
The official Pokémon website has already listed the dates and location, although more information about the event will be announced closer to the tournament.
There is one small correction to the original announcement circulating online: the event isn’t just August 13–14. The official Pokémon site now confirms the championships will run across three days, August 13–15.
The World’s Best Trainers Will Compete
The Pokémon World Championships is the biggest event in the competitive Pokémon calendar, bringing together players who have qualified throughout the Championship Series.
The 2027 event will feature competitions for:
- Pokémon Trading Card Game
- Pokémon Video Game Championships
- Pokémon GO
Players will battle for the title of World Champion, along with championship prizes and the chance to put themselves at the top of the competitive Pokémon world.
The official Pokémon Championship Series has already published its 2027 season information, with players beginning their journey towards earning invitations to Worlds.
Pokémon Is Returning To Asia
This will be the first time the Pokémon World Championships has been held in Singapore.
It also marks Pokémon Worlds’ return to Asia after the 2023 World Championships in Yokohama, Japan.
That makes the Singapore announcement particularly exciting for Pokémon fans throughout the region.
Singapore is also becoming increasingly important to Pokémon’s Asian events calendar. The city is already scheduled to host a PokéXciting! 30th anniversary event from November 7–8, 2026, giving fans another major Pokémon celebration before Worlds arrives the following year.
Championship Sunday Will Be Special
While the main event will take place at Singapore EXPO, reports from Singapore indicate that Championship Sunday will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
This would give the final day of competition a much larger arena-style setting as the remaining players battle for the world titles.
It’s likely to make for an incredible atmosphere, particularly for the final matches of the TCG and video game competitions.
What About Pokémon UNITE?
There is one interesting change for Pokémon fans who have followed the World Championships in recent years.
Pokémon UNITE will not be part of the main Pokémon World Championships competition from 2027.
The UNITE Championship Series is moving to a standalone in-person event in Japan, rather than being included as one of the main World Championships competitions.
That means the Singapore Worlds will focus on the TCG, Pokémon video games and Pokémon GO.
Will There Be Pokémon Merch?
Now this is probably the question many collectors are already thinking about.
Pokémon World Championships events usually feature exclusive merchandise, special Pokémon Center items, event promos and plenty of collectibles.
And considering Singapore is hosting the event for the first time, it will be interesting to see what Pokémon creates specifically for Worlds 2027.
We don’t have the merchandise details yet, but Pokémon has already started using Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region for its 30th anniversary celebrations.
So I’m expecting some pretty cool Singapore-exclusive Pokémon merchandise next year.
