Pokémon x adidas Originals 30th Anniversary Sneaker Collection Officially Revealed
Pokémon and adidas Originals are celebrating 30 years of Pokémon with one of the biggest Pokémon footwear collaborations yet.
After months of rumours and leaked images, we now have an official look at the upcoming Pokémon x adidas Originals 30th Anniversary Collection, which brings some of Pokémon’s most recognisable characters to a range of classic adidas silhouettes.
The collection is scheduled to release globally in September 2026, with prices ranging from approximately US$110 to US$180.
And there are some seriously clever Pokémon-inspired details hidden throughout the collection.
12 Pairs Inspired by Pokémon Icons
The collection features 12 pairs of sneakers, with designs inspired by:
- Pikachu
- Charmander
- Charmeleon
- Charizard
- Haunter
- Gengar
- Mewtwo
- Rayquaza
Rather than simply putting Pokémon artwork on an existing shoe, adidas has incorporated details from each Pokémon directly into the construction of the sneakers.
Across the collection, fans will find Poké Ball lace decorations, Pokémon artwork, custom overlays, character-inspired colours and even details based on individual Pokémon features.
Pikachu Gets Three Different Sneakers
Pikachu leads the collection with three different designs.

The first is the adidas Pro Model “Pikachu”, accompanied by two different versions of the Superstar “Pikachu”.
Two of the Pikachu designs feature fuzzy yellow uppers designed to resemble Pikachu’s fur, complete with black detailing and Poké Ball-inspired lace decorations.
The third Superstar takes a completely different approach, using a crisp white base covered in all-over Pikachu graphics.
It’s a great option for fans who want something a little more subtle while still making it obvious that Pikachu is along for the ride.
Charmander, Charmeleon & Charizard
The entire Charmander evolution line gets its own treatment.
The Superstar “Charmander” uses cream and orange tones inspired by the Fire-type Pokémon, while the Superstar “Charmeleon” switches to a much stronger scarlet colour scheme.

One of the coolest details on the Charmeleon shoe is the use of claw-shaped adidas Three Stripes, directly referencing the Pokémon’s claws.
Then we get to Charizard.
The Superstar Vintage “Charizard” features a wing-inspired flap across the eyelet area, giving the shoe a distinctive look inspired by Charizard’s wings.

It’s one of the more unusual designs in the collection and shows just how far adidas has gone beyond simply applying Pokémon graphics to its shoes.
Gengar & Haunter Bring the Darkness
The Ghost-types get some of the darkest designs in the collection.
The adidas Adistar XLG 2.0 “Gengar” uses deep purple tones and features Gengar artwork on the tongue.
Meanwhile, the Adistar Control 5 “Haunter” continues the spooky aesthetic with darker colours and sharp, character-inspired overlays.

These two definitely stand apart from the bright Pikachu and Charmander designs and should appeal to fans looking for something a little more understated.
Mewtwo Gets Three Designs
Mewtwo arguably receives the most interesting collection of footwear after Pikachu, with three different adidas models.
Samba OG “Mewtwo”
The Samba OG “Mewtwo” incorporates triangular detailing around the eyelets, inspired by the shape of Mewtwo’s fingers.

It’s a particularly clever way of referencing the Pokémon without simply covering the shoe in artwork.
Spezial “Mewtwo”
The Spezial “Mewtwo” features a unique heel loop inspired by the long cord-like structure extending from the back of Mewtwo’s neck.

It’s another subtle reference that fans of the original Pokémon will immediately recognise.
ZX 8000 “Mewtwo”
The ZX 8000 “Mewtwo” is perhaps the most elaborate pair of the entire collection.
The shoe uses Mewtwo’s iconic lavender and violet colour palette, with additional details inspired directly by the Genetic Pokémon.
The design includes:
- Mewtwo’s eyes incorporated around the shoe
- Ear-inspired heel details
- Mewtwo artwork on the tongue
- “MEWTWO” branding
- A Master Ball lace decoration
- Pokémon x adidas branding
- A subtle Mew detail hidden on the side of the shoe
The ZX 8000 carries the style code KI5326 and is currently expected to release in September.

Rayquaza Takes Flight
Rayquaza closes out the collection with two dramatically different sneakers.
The adidas F50 Tunit Mega “Rayquaza” brings the Legendary Pokémon into adidas’ football-inspired footwear range.
There’s also an Adistar Control 5 “Rayquaza”, using a green and black colour scheme inspired by Rayquaza’s scales.
The two designs give Rayquaza a particularly strong presence within the collection and provide some Generation III representation alongside the heavy focus on Generation I Pokémon.

When Will They Be Released?
The Pokémon x adidas Originals 30th Anniversary Collection is currently scheduled for September 2026.
The collection is expected to launch globally through adidas.com and selected retailers.
Reported pricing is between:
US$110 – US$180
Australian pricing and release details have not yet been confirmed, so Australian collectors will need to keep an eye on adidas Australia and local stockists for further information.
A Bigger Pokémon x adidas Collaboration Than Expected
We’ve known for some time that Pokémon and adidas would be teaming up again for the 30th Anniversary.
The partnership was first reported in late 2025, with early information pointing towards a September 2026 collection featuring classic adidas silhouettes such as the Samba, Superstar and Adistar XLG 2.0.
The collection has clearly grown considerably since those first reports, with the latest reveal showing a much broader range of Pokémon and adidas models.
The ZX 8000 Mewtwo was one of the first pairs to surface publicly, with its detailed Mewtwo-inspired construction giving fans an early indication of how much thought had gone into the collaboration.
Pokémon Meets Streetwear
This collaboration is particularly interesting because it brings together two brands with enormous nostalgia among different generations.
For Pokémon fans, these aren’t just sneakers—they’re a way to wear a favourite Pokémon without necessarily looking like you’re wearing traditional character merchandise.
For sneaker collectors, meanwhile, the collection features some of adidas’ most recognisable silhouettes, including the Superstar, Samba, Spezial and ZX 8000.
And with Pokémon celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2026, the timing couldn’t be better.
