Pokémon x Fender Guitars Revealed for 30th Anniversary, Inspired by Pokémon Red and Green

Pokémon is celebrating its upcoming 30th anniversary with an incredible collaboration that is sure to catch the attention of both Pokémon collectors and music fans.

The Pokémon Center and iconic guitar manufacturer Fender have teamed up to create two specially designed guitars inspired by the original Pokémon Red and Green games. Featuring nostalgic pixel artwork, special anniversary details and even built-in 8-bit sound effects, these guitars are a serious tribute to the franchise’s beginnings.

And honestly, as someone who grew up with the original Pokémon games, these are the sort of collectibles I would absolutely love to have displayed on the wall of my Pokémon room!

Two Guitars Inspired by Pokémon Red and Green

The collaboration features two of Fender’s most recognisable guitar models, each representing one of the original Pokémon games.

Both guitars feature pixel art graphics inspired by the original game screens, bringing back the visual style that made the early Pokémon games so memorable.

The designs are particularly appealing for long-time fans, with their retro artwork taking players straight back to the Game Boy era.

Each guitar also features a pickguard that glows in fluorescent colours depending on the viewing angle, giving the instruments an eye-catching finish.

Special 30th Anniversary Details and Accessories

These aren’t simply standard Fender guitars with Pokémon artwork added. The collaboration includes several exclusive details created specifically for the anniversary.

Both models feature a specially engraved neck plate displaying the 30th Anniversary Dot Logo, marking the collaboration between Pokémon Center and Fender.

Each guitar also comes with:

  • An original Pokémon-themed pick set.
  • A newly illustrated certificate of authenticity.
  • A dedicated hard case.
  • Exclusive pixel artwork inspired by the original games.

The attention to detail makes these guitars feel more like premium collector’s pieces than ordinary gaming merchandise.

They Even Have an 8-Bit Pokémon Sound!

One of the coolest features is hidden in the volume knob.

Pressing the volume knob adds an 8-bit sound to the guitar’s output, creating a nostalgic tone reminiscent of the original Pokémon Red and Green game sounds.

It’s a brilliant little detail that connects the guitars to the games that inspired them. Rather than just looking like Pokémon merchandise, the instruments also incorporate a piece of the original gaming experience into their sound.

For fans who remember playing Pokémon on the original Game Boy, this is a particularly fun addition.

Price and Pokémon Center Lottery Details

Both guitars are priced at 396,000 Japanese yen, making them premium collector’s items.

The guitars will be sold through a lottery application process on Pokémon Center Online in Japan.

I Would Absolutely Love One of These in My Pokémon Room!

I honestly think these guitars are incredible. I would absolutely love to own one of these just to have it displayed on the wall in my Pokémon room.

The pixel artwork is what really gets me. It captures that original Game Boy aesthetic so perfectly, and I think Pokémon is doing a fantastic job of pulling those original fans back in with these anniversary products.

The problem is the price. At ¥396,000 each, before even considering international shipping, import costs and the risks involved in getting something this expensive delivered safely, it’s a pretty big investment.

As much as I would love to have one hanging on my wall, I think the cost and shipping risks make it a difficult purchase to justify.

Still, I can’t help but admire them. Between the retro designs, fluorescent pickguards and hidden 8-bit sound feature, these are easily some of the most interesting Pokémon anniversary collectibles we’ve seen announced so far.
