Slowpoke chosen as mascot for new Takamatsu location
The Pokémon Company has officially announced the grand opening date for Pokémon Center Kagawa. The brand-new store will open on October 24th, 2025, located on the first floor of Marugamemachi Green in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture.
This marks the first time in several years that a new Pokémon Center has been established, making the occasion especially notable for fans. The chosen mascot for the location is Slowpoke, which has long been tied to Kagawa Prefecture due to local promotions and its playful connection to the region’s udon culture.

Exclusive Merchandise
To commemorate the opening, Pokémon Center Kagawa will feature a range of exclusive merchandise starring Slowpoke and friends. These items will only be available at the Kagawa location and are expected to include plushies, accessories, and themed goods celebrating the store’s debut.

Related Promotions
In addition to exclusive items, a special Mystery Gift distribution has also been announced: players visiting Pokémon Centers in Japan during the opening period can receive a special Slowpoke code for Pokémon Legends: Z-A or the Pokémon HOME app by imitating a Slowpoke for store staff. This distribution will run from October 24th to November 11th, 2025.
This event ties directly into the promotion of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which recently revealed new Mega Evolutions and is set to connect with Pokémon HOME in 2026.
Looking Ahead
With Pokémon Center Kagawa’s opening, fans in the Shikoku region will now have a dedicated hub for all things Pokémon, joining the ranks of other major Pokémon Centers across Japan. Slowpoke’s role as the store mascot further solidifies its unique place in the region’s Pokémon culture.
Stay tuned for updates as more details on the store’s lineup and celebrations are revealed.
