Pokémon Friends Updated With New Pokémon and Minigames in Version 1.1

The Pokémon Company has rolled out a major update for Pokémon Friends, the cozy puzzle-game spin-off released earlier this year on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The Version 1.1 update introduces new Pokémon, additional minigames, expanded customization options, and adjustments designed to improve overall gameplay. This is the first large-scale content update since launch, and it is available now for all players.

What’s New in Version 1.1 (Mobile)

The mobile release of Ver. 1.1.0 includes a broad mix of content updates and quality-of-life improvements:

  • Several bug fixes for stability.
  • New puzzles, plush, furniture, and wallpapers added to the in-game shop and unlock lists.
  • New Friend Quests to complete.
  • The maximum friendship level has been increased.
  • The maximum number of plush you can place has increased from 20 → 25.
  • A new tilt controls test has been added to the Game Settings menu to help players fine-tune motion controls.

These changes aim to expand the game’s collectible system, deepen progression, and give players more freedom when decorating their room.

What’s New in Version 1.1 (Nintendo Switch)

The Nintendo Switch update mirrors many of the mobile features but also introduces Switch-specific improvements:

  • Several bug fixes for general performance.
  • Players can now select three difficulty levels when untangling puzzles for the first time after the tutorial.
  • Puzzle level-up and level-down conditions have been rebalanced to better match player skill and reduce unnecessary difficulty spikes.
  • You now receive one yarn per day when achieving a new personal record.
  • You now earn yarn when reaching level 6 of any puzzle for the first time.
  • New puzzles, plush, furniture, and wallpapers added.
  • New Friend Quests and an increased maximum friendship level.
  • Increased plush placement limit from 20 → 25, matching the mobile version.

These adjustments aim to make progression smoother and reward players more consistently for improving their puzzle performance.

New Pokémon and New Minigames

While The Pokémon Company has not published a full list of new Pokémon in the patch notes, official update summaries confirm that additional Pokémon species have been added to the roster, along with 10 brand-new minigames.

These new minigames appear across various puzzle types and Friend Quest tasks, giving players more variety in how they level up and bond with their Pokémon companions.

General Improvements Across Both Versions

Both mobile and Switch versions share several common themes in this update:

  • Expanded customization features
  • More Friend Quest content
  • Increased friendship caps
  • A higher plush placement limit
  • Added collectible content such as plush, wallpapers, and furniture

These changes suggest a continued commitment by The Pokémon Company to evolve Pokémon Friends into a regularly updated, long-term puzzle experience similar to Café ReMix and other companion titles.
