Pokémon Plakoro Board Game Announced for Japan
The Pokémon Company has announced a brand new Pokémon board game for Japan called Plakoro, bringing back a classic battle game concept from the early days of the franchise.
Plakoro is a modern revival of a 1997 Pokémon battle game originally released by Bandai. The game uses plastic dice along with cube-shaped Pokémon figurines, allowing players to battle against each other in a simple tabletop format.
The gameplay centers around rolling the dice and using the cube Pokémon pieces to attack, defend, and strategize against your opponent. The figures themselves represent different Pokémon and form the core of the battle system, making it both a collectible and playable tabletop experience.
The announcement was accompanied by a trailer showcasing the game’s pieces and battle mechanics, giving fans their first look at how the modern version will play.
At the time of writing, Plakoro has only been confirmed for release in Japan, and there has been no announcement regarding an international release. However, with Pokémon’s growing interest in tabletop games and collectibles, fans outside Japan will be watching closely to see if the game eventually launches in other regions.
