Johto Starters Arrive in Pokémon UNITE, Typhlosion Leads the Charge
The Johto region is taking over Pokémon UNITE, with the arrival of its iconic partner Pokémon.
Typhlosion, Feraligatr, and Meganium are all set to join the game, kicking off a new wave of Johto-themed content.
Typhlosion Available Now
Typhlosion officially joins Pokémon UNITE on April 24th as an Attack-type Pokémon.
It specialises in mid-range combat, unleashing powerful fire-based attacks to pressure opponents from a safe distance. Its Unite Move allows it to cloak itself in a heat haze, dealing damage to nearby enemies while avoiding targeting from distant opponents — making it a dangerous presence in team fights.
To celebrate its arrival, a new limited-time event titled “Typhlosion’s Johto Adventure Challenge” is now live.
Players can complete missions during the event to unlock Typhlosion’s Unite License for free.

Feraligatr and Meganium Coming Soon
The other Johto starters won’t be far behind.
- Feraligatr is scheduled to join on May 8th
- Meganium is scheduled to join on May 22nd
While full details on their playstyles haven’t been revealed yet, fans can expect each to bring unique mechanics that reflect their original battle roles.
Johto Festival Event Now Live
To celebrate the arrival of the Johto starters, a special in-game event called the Johto Festival is now underway.
This limited-time mode features battles where only Johto region Pokémon can be used, offering a fresh twist on standard gameplay.
Eligible Pokémon include:
- Azumarill
- Espeon
- Umbreon
- Scizor
- Blissey
- Suicune
- Tyranitar
- Ho-Oh
In this mode, players are also allowed to select the same Pokémon as their teammates — something not normally possible in standard matches.
By participating, players can earn special rewards including trainer icons and backgrounds themed around Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr.

A Johto Celebration for Pokémon UNITE
With the addition of all three Johto starters and a dedicated event mode, this update is shaping up to be one of the biggest themed updates yet for Pokémon UNITE.
