ANA Reveals New Pokémon Jet Red & Green for Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary
Japan’s largest airline, ANA (All Nippon Airways), has officially unveiled the design of its newest Pokémon-themed aircraft, Pokémon Jet Red & Green, as part of a major collaboration celebrating two significant milestones.
The project commemorates:
- The 30th anniversary of Pokémon, which began with the release of Pokémon Red and Green in 1996.
- The 40th anniversary of ANA’s international flight operations.
The aircraft design was officially finalized and revealed on May 28th, 2026, with ANA confirming that three new Pokémon Jets will enter service as part of the anniversary celebrations.
Three New Pokémon Jets Taking Flight
Following in the footsteps of the original Pokémon Jets that first took to the skies in 1998, ANA will introduce three special liveries:
- Pokémon Jet Red
- Pokémon Jet Green
- Pokémon Jet Blue – Coming Soon
The aircraft continue a tradition that has become iconic among both Pokémon fans and aviation enthusiasts over the past three decades.

Since the original Pokémon Jet debuted, ANA has operated numerous Pokémon-themed aircraft featuring Pikachu and other fan-favourite Pokémon, helping turn ordinary flights into memorable experiences for travellers around the world.
Pokémon Jet Red Celebrates Every Trainer’s First Adventure
The newly revealed Pokémon Jet Red focuses on the theme:
“An exciting journey with Pokémon.”
The artwork depicts Pikachu travelling alongside many of the franchise’s iconic starter Pokémon, recreating the feeling of setting off on your very first Pokémon adventure.
The design prominently features Fire-type Pokémon from across the series, encouraging fans to spot the Pokémon that accompanied them during their own journeys.
It’s a nostalgic tribute to the beginning of every Trainer’s adventure, perfectly fitting for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Pokémon Winds & Waves Starters Make Their Debut
One of the biggest surprises hidden within the aircraft design is the inclusion of the starter Pokémon from the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games:
Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.

The newly revealed starters featured on the aircraft include:
Habou
- Grass-type
- Chick Pokémon
- Uses its leaf-like cocoon to perform photosynthesis
- Energetic but slightly clumsy
Pomken
- Fire-type
- Puppy Pokémon
- Has heat-generating organs in its lungs
- Friendly and full of energy
Miori
- Water-type
- Water Gecko Pokémon
- Fires elastic water projectiles from its tail
- Intelligent and surprisingly cunning
This marks one of the earliest public appearances of the trio outside of promotional materials for the upcoming games.
Pokémon-Themed Experience On Board
The Pokémon celebration doesn’t stop with the aircraft exterior.
Passengers travelling on the special jets will also encounter Pokémon-themed items throughout the cabin, including:
- Special Pokémon headrest covers
- Limited-edition design cups
- Pokémon cocktail napkins
- Pokémon-themed in-flight background music
Some international routes will also feature exclusive onboard items and souvenirs while supplies last.
ANA has confirmed that special boarding gifts and original merchandise will also form part of the wider campaign.

Continuing a Legacy That Began in 1998
For many Pokémon fans, ANA’s Pokémon Jets hold a special place in franchise history.
The first Pokémon Jet launched in 1998 during the height of Pokémania and quickly became one of the most recognisable special aircraft liveries in the world.
Over the years ANA has released numerous themed aircraft featuring Pokémon such as:
- Pikachu
- Charizard
- Lugia
- Rayquaza
- Eevee
- Various regional mascots
The new Red, Green, and Blue aircraft continue that tradition while celebrating both Pokémon’s past and its future.
A Dream Flight for Pokémon Fans
Honestly, this might be one of the coolest Pokémon anniversary projects announced so far.
We’ve seen Pokémon trains, Pokémon buses, Pokémon airports, and even Pokémon-themed hotels, but there is something magical about seeing a giant Pokémon Jet soaring through the sky. The inclusion of the Pokémon Winds & Waves starters also makes these aircraft feel like a bridge between the franchise’s first 30 years and its next generation of adventures.
If ANA eventually offers special merchandise or flight packages tied to the jets, don’t be surprised if Pokémon fans start planning trips just to fly on one.
