Permanent Pokémon Retail Store Coming to London by 2029
Pokémon fans in the United Kingdom will soon have a new destination to visit, with The Pokémon Company announcing plans to open a permanent physical Pokémon retail store in London by 2029.
The upcoming store is expected to offer exclusive merchandise and unique experiences for fans of all ages. It will also be part of a broader plan to establish permanent Pokémon retail locations outside Asia.
While details about the store’s exact location and opening date have yet to be revealed, the announcement signals a major step in expanding Pokémon’s physical retail presence internationally.
A New Destination for Pokémon Fans
According to The Pokémon Company International, the London store is being designed as a destination where fans can experience the Pokémon brand beyond its games, trading cards and other products.
The company has described the planned location as a place offering a variety of exclusive merchandise alongside one-of-a-kind experiences for Trainers.
Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, said the company hopes the store will bring fans together and create memorable experiences for both newcomers and long-time Pokémon enthusiasts.
The store is intended to serve as a community destination where visitors can celebrate their shared interest in the franchise.
Will It Be Called a Pokémon Center?
One interesting detail in the announcement is the terminology used to describe the new location.
The Pokémon Company specifically refers to it as a “permanent, physical Pokémon store”, rather than calling it a Pokémon Center.
Pokémon Centers are the franchise’s established retail stores in Japan and other selected locations, offering a wide range of official merchandise. However, the London announcement does not confirm that the new store will use the Pokémon Center name or follow the same format.
It is therefore too early to determine whether London will receive a traditional Pokémon Center or a different retail concept.
What has been confirmed is that the store will carry exclusive merchandise and provide experiences designed specifically for Pokémon fans.
Part of a Wider International Expansion
The London location is planned to be the first of several permanent Pokémon stores intended to open outside Asia.
This could eventually give fans in more international markets greater access to official Pokémon merchandise and in-person experiences without needing to travel to Japan.
However, The Pokémon Company has not yet announced the locations of the other planned stores, so it remains unclear which countries could receive a permanent retail destination next.
Could More Countries Get Permanent Pokémon Stores?
The London announcement is particularly notable because it is described as the first of several permanent Pokémon stores planned outside Asia.
Although no additional locations have been revealed, the initiative could eventually bring dedicated Pokémon retail experiences to more fans around the world.
For now, UK fans have a new store to look forward to, with exclusive products and experiences expected to make it a destination for Pokémon collectors and Trainers alike.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a permanent Pokémon store open in Australia as well!!
